Despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding fast food, red meat, soda, and excessive sweets, exercising moderately, choosing organic and non-GMO foods, and using detox techniques for over a decade. I was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in early 2024. I was in my late 30s, a mother of three, and still recovering from giving birth the previous year. The diagnosis rocked me.
I realized that even strong general wellness habits aren't enough..you have to support your body with an individualized approach. I believe our bodies are designed to heal, and that intuitive, well-researched health decisions are essential. After surgery, I chose to forego conventional treatment, against medical advice, and instead leaned on a community of like-minded doctors and patients who prioritize quality of life.
I now teach nutrition classes because food truly matters. I once felt overwhelmed by conflicting advice..diets, products, supplements..so I focused on small, daily choices: eating more fruits and veggies, eliminating processed foods, and growing nutrient-dense sprouts and wheatgrass at home. These affordable steps replaced many costly supplements (saving nearly $1,000 a month), reduced stress, and empowered my healing.
If you're searching for answers like I was, my advice is to research thoroughly, make decisions that bring peace, allow yourself the flexibility to change direction, and always offer yourself grace.
Today is all we have...eat, thrive, live.
